HOMETOWN

MILVERTON, CANADA

Canadian native, Kyle Steckly, born in Milverton, Ontario, has been surrounded by racing since the day he was born, but from the moment he strapped into a race car himself at the age of seven, he was hooked and hasn't looked back. Steckly grew up in the race shop and around the track, watching and supporting his Dad, four-time NASCAR Canada Series Champion Scott Steckly. Racing is in Kyle’s blood; he has always had a need for speed. Starting out on a dirt bike at the age of four, he got the rush of racing on two wheels; at age seven, though, the switch to racing cars began with a birthday gift of an Asphalt Micro Sprint from his Dad. Kyle spent most of his time in the race shop growing up, whether he was working on his own car or his dad’s car, he was always learning about the “ins and outs” of race cars. While his dad supported him in racing goals, Kyle knew if he wasn't in the shop working on his car he wouldn't be going to the track to race. To this day, Kyle believes strongly that working on your own car is very important to success in racing at every level. In his first year racing for a championship, Kyle was successful in locking in Rookie of the Year and the A Micro Sprint Championship at Grand Bend Speedway. From there, he jumped into a Junior Late Model for the following two seasons quickly finding success and winning several races. By 2019 at the age of 14, Kyle found himself driving a full-sized stock car for the first time in his career. Kyle adapted quickly to the challenge and went on to win multiple races and Rookie of the Year honors at Flamboro Speedway. After a long offseason due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kyle and his father went to work and built a brand new Pro Late Model for the 2021 season. Kyle went on to win Rookie of the Year and the Championship in the Pro-Late Model division at Flamboro Speedway. 2022 didn't come easy, with some struggles at new tracks along with mechanical failures, but still picked up one win in the Series, finishing second in points, and earned Rookie of the Year honors. He also made his NASCAR Canada Series debut in Saskatoon, finishing fourth. Once the season was over in Canada, Kyle headed south for the first time to run in the biggest Pro Late Model race of the year, the Snowflake 100 at Five Flags (Fla.) Speedway. He had a solid run, qualifying 11th and finishing 22nd. 2023 arrived and the young driver was all in. Building a brand new car for the season, Kyle had one thing on his mind: to win the APC United Late Model Series Championship. And that's what he did. With a bad wreck at the mid-way point through the year Kyle's chances at a championship were slim, but he and his team never gave up and went on to win two races and ultimately the Championship. He continued his racing in the NASCAR Canada Series, with a few more starts claiming a 2nd place finish and a Pole award. Once again, the Canadian season came to an end, and Steckly headed south. His team went to Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway for the first time to race in the All-American 100 finishing fourth, and the prestigious Snowflake 100, earning a fifth-place finish against 65 of the best drivers in North America. At the age of 18, Kyle looks to keep building his racing career with more Super Late Model starts in the United States with Rette Jones Racing, while continuing his own Pro Late Model program in Canada.
